Scarlet Nexus is based on the action RPG of the same name by Bandai Namco, which will launch on June 25. Funimation describes the anime as:

Solar calendar year 2020: grotesque organisms called Others have begun eating people. To take down this new enemy, the Other Suppression Force is formed. Saved by this elite team as a child, psychokinetic Yuito withstands the training to enlist. On the other hand, prodigy Kasane was scouted for her abilities. But Kasane’s dreams tell her strange things, dragging the two into an unavoidable fate.

Hiroyuki Nishimura (Kurokami The Animation director, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin Ep 1 character designer, chief animation director, and key animator) is the director and one of the character designers for the show. Other staff include Yōichi Katō (Mazica Party) and Toshizō Nemoto as series composers and scriptwriters, Akiko Inoue (Major 2nd Season 2) as scriptwriter, Itō Yūji (Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Battlefront: Babylonia Ep 9 animation director) as character designer, Osamu Tayama (Juni Taisen: Zodiac War) as art director, Daichi Iseki (No Guns Life) as photography director, and Hironori Anazawa as music composer. SUNRISE is in charge of the animation production.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Asami Seto as Kasane Randall, Junya Enoki as Yuito Sumeragi, Yuri Horie as Arashi Spring, Rota Takeuchi as Gemma Garrison, Yomomi Mineuchi as Hanabi Ichiio, Daisuke Namikawa as Kagero Donne, Yumi Hara as Kyoka Eden, Chinatsu Akasaki as Luka Travers, Kengo Kawanishi as Shiden Ritter, and Marika Kohno as Tsugumi Nazar.

The first episode of Scarlet Nexus received an early release on other platforms on June 19. Our review of that episode said, “Scarlet Nexus ought to be a decent, alternative way of experiencing the game’s narrative. However, this first episode does a lesser job than the game’s trailers in selling the story as something that should be experienced, while there’s not much to shout about on the action side. Watching it wasn’t a bad way of spending time, but it’s best not to expect much from this show at the moment.”
