My Hero Academia World Heroes’ Mission New PV Reveals Theme Song by Asian Kung-Fu Generation

The third anime film in the My Hero Academia franchise, My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes’ Mission, streamed a new PV previewing the film’s theme song titled “Enpashii” (“Empathy”) by Asian Kung-Fu Generation (ERASED, Dororo). It was also revealed that Kazuya Nakai will voice Flect Turn*, the leader of an organization that threatens the destruction of the world.

The franchise previously teased the stealth suits worn by characters Izuku “Deku” Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, and Shoto Todoroki in the World Heroes’ Mission film. The film’s story will see series protagonist Deku being wanted for mass murder. At the same time, the heroes only have two hours to stop a plot set to bring about the destruction of the world.

World Heroes’ Mission is scheduled to open in Japan on August 6 this year. Film-goers will receive a bonus “Vol. World Heroes” manga volume. The volume will be limited to one million copies.

Kenji Nagasaki returns to direct the new film at Bones. Other returning staff members include Yōsuke Kuroda as scriptwriter, Yoshihiko Umakoshi as character designer, and Yuki Hayashi as music composer. Original manga creator Kōhei Horikoshi will continue to serve as chief supervisor and original character designer. He also designed Flect Turn and original character Rody Soul, who is voiced by Ryō Yoshizawa.

World Heroes’ Mission is the third anime movie in the My Hero Academia series, following 2018’s Two Heroes and 2019’s Heroes Rising. The anime series began in 2016, with its fifth season currently airing in Spring 2021. Both the films and the series are produced by Bones. Meanwhile, the manga has been serialized since 2014 and has 30 tankōbon volumes as of April 2021.
