Police have arrested a 25-year-old woman who threatened Wit Studio (Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song, Great Pretender, Attack on Titan Season 1-3) with arson. The announcement was made on May 28, while the arrest took place on May 25.

On May 7, the woman, who is of unknown occupation, sent an email to Wit saying that she would set fire to the studio in one week. The threat caused the studio to step up its security, causing some obstruction to its operations. The woman was arrested under the charge of forcible obstruction of business.

The woman has admitted to the charges and is suspected of having a mental disorder.

In July 2019, an arson attack was carried out on Kyoto Animation (Violet Evergarden, K-On!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), resulting in 36 dead and 32 injured. The suspect in that case, who was charged in December 2020, was treated for mental illness in the past but was determined by medical experts to be mentally fit in the case of the arson attack.
