Knights of Sidonia: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi Movie Delayed To June 4

The upcoming Knights of Sidonia: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi (The Star That Weaves Love) anime movie has been delayed from May 14 to June 4. Additionally, the movie’s stage event was suspended.

The delay was made in light of the extension of the state of emergency in Japan in response to the COVID-19 situation, as well as the closure of some theaters.

Tsutomu Nihei, the author of the Knights of Sidonia manga that the series and movie are based on, is involved as chief supervisor.

Other staff members include Takuma Ishibashi (Human Lost) as the movie’s other CG supervisor, Hironori Noji (WaveListen to Me!) as color designer, and Shūji Katayama (So I’m a Spider, So What?) as music composer. Polygon Pictures is in charge of the animation production.

The cast includes Ryōta Ōsaka as Nagate Tanikaze, Aya Suzaki as Shizuka Hoshijiro, Aki Toyasaki as Izana Shinatose, Hisako Kanemoto as Yuhata Midorikawa, Takahiro Sakurai as Norio Kunato, Ayane Sakura as Mozuku Kunato, Rie Kitamura as the Honoka sisters, Sayaka Oohara as Kobayashi, Tomohiro Tsuboi as Ichirō Seī, Takehito Koyasu as Ochiai, Satomi Arai as Lala Hiyama, Atsuko Tanaka as Samari Ittan, Takako Honda as Sasaki, Kōsuke Toriumi as Kōichi Tsurūchi, Osamu Saka as Shinsuke Tanpa, Rina Satō as Numi Tahiro, Mamiko Noto as Yure Shinatose, Yūma Uchida as Tōtarō Yamano, Yūto Umehara as Kairi Hamagata, Inori Minase as Iroha Hashine, and Miho Okasaki as Hanma Itsuki.

Knights of Sidonia: Ai Tsumugu Hoshi is a sequel to the Knights of Sidonia anime series, which received two seasons and a recap movie. The manga ran from 2009 to 2015 and ended with 15 volumes. According to Nihei, the movie will disclose a fact that was not revealed in the manga and will contain additional elements as well.

AnimeLab describes the series as:

A thousand years after the alien Gauna destroyed the Earth, a small remnant of humanity still fights on to survive, fleeing on the gargantuan asteroid-based spaceship Sidonia. But centuries of flight and warfare have changed mankind in incredible ways…
