MAPPA, LeSean Thomas & Netflix Yasuke Anime First Trailer, More Staff Revealed

Netflix revealed the first anime trailer for Yasuke, an anime series created by LeSean Thomas and produced by MAPPA. The anime is scheduled for April 29, which was previously revealed during AnimeJapan 2021. A new key visual was also revealed.

LeSean Thomas (Children of Ether) is credited as director, creator, and executive producer with Takeshi Koike as character designer and Flying Lotus as music composer and executive producer.

Additional key staff were also revealed: Satsohi Iwataki as chief animator, Takeshi Sato as director chief, Junichi Higashi as art director, Azusa Sasaki as color designer, Kenichi Shima as sub-character designer, Minoru Nishida in charge of world view design and art settings, Ikuki Nomoto as 3DCG director, Takyashoi Park as cinematographer, and Mutsumi Takemiya as editor. 

Netflix describes the story as:

In a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic, the greatest ronin never known, Yasuke, struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a past life of violence. But when a local village becomes the center of social upheaval between warring daimyo, Yasuke must take up his sword and transport a mysterious child who is the target of dark forces and bloodthirsty warlords.The story of Yasuke, the first African samurai who actually served the legendary Oda Nobunaga, will be released to the world.
