The official website of Taisho Otome Otogi Banashi released a new PV for Fall 2021 at the AnimeJapan event on March 28. The panel at the event featured voice actors Saya Aizawa and Yuusuke Kobayashi, who are starring as Yuzuki Tachibana and Tamahiko Shima respectively. The anime is directed by Jun Hatori at SynergySP. Hiroko Fukuda is in charge of the series composition and the script, while Mayumi Watanabe is in charge of character design.
The manga by Sana Kirioka was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine from 2015 to 2017. Kirioka then published a sequel titled Showa Otome Otogi Banashi in the Shonen Jump+ website, with the fifth and final volume planned for July 3.
The manga, set in the Taisho Era, chronicles the life of a teenager named Tamahiko Shima who lost the use of his right arm in an accident and hence had his name removed from being the next family head. He is then sent away to a rural mansion in Chiba Prefecture to take care of his health. However, a girl named Yuzuki one day turns up at his doorstep, stating that his father had bought her as a wife to take care of Tamahiko. Thus, the pessimistic Tamahiko’s life starts to change.
