Kanojo mo Kanojo Highlights Cast In New Trailer

Upcoming romantic comedy anime Kanojo mo Kanojo (Girlfriend, Girlfriend) has received a new teaser trailer, which highlights its cast members and previews their portrayal of their respective characters. A new key visual was also released. The anime is set to premiere in July 2021.

The cast includes Junya Enoki as Naoya Mukai, Ayane Sakura as Saki Saki, Azumi Waki as Nagisa Minase, Ayana Taketatsu as Rika Hoshizaki, and Rie Takahashi as Shino Kiryuu. 

The anime’s staff includes Satoshi Kuwabara (The Quintessential Quintuplets) as director, Keiichirō Ōchi (The Quintessential Quintuplets) as scriptwriter, and Akiko Toyoda (Akudama Drive) as character designer. Tezuka Productions is in charge of the animation production.  

Kanojo mo Kanojo is based on the manga by Hiroyuki, which begin serialization in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in March 2020. The manga released its first volume in June 2020 and has four volumes as of January 2021. As noted by AnimeAnime, the anime adaptation was decided on merely eight months from serialization, making Kanojo mo Kanojo a record-holder among Weekly Shōnen Magazine manga. 

AnimeAnime describes the story as:

The main character, Naoya, who has been confessing his feelings for his childhood friend Saki for years and is finally able to go out with her as a high school student, loves her so much that he expresses his love for her even in front of his classmates. However, he suddenly gets a confession of love from his insanely cute classmate Nagisa. Even though he has a girlfriend… …What would you do if another girl confessed to you? I have a girlfriend that I’m dating. But he doesn’t want to dump the cute girl. After such a painful struggle, the protagonist comes to a conclusion: ……… A neo-standard romantic comedy is drawn.
