Award-Winning Sabikui Bisco Light Novels Get Anime, Teaser Released

An anime adaptation of the Sabikui Bisco (Rust-eating Bisco) adventure fantasy light novel series, which historically got first place in two categories, including the category for new works, at This Light Novel Is Amazing! 2019, has been announced with a teaser trailer. The release date is currently unknown, but staff and cast details have been released. 

The ID: INVADED alumni-heavy staff includes Atsushi Ikariya (ID: INVADED character designer/chief animation director) as director, Daisuke Mataga (ID: INVADED main animator) as assistant director, Sadayuki Murai (Knights of Sidonia) as series composer and script writer, Ikariya and Ai Asari (ID: INVADED co-prop designer/animation director) as character designers, and Asari and Norie Igawa (ID: INVADED animation director) as chief animation directors.

Other staff include Masakazu Miyake (ID: INVADED) as art director, Yoshihiro Sono (ID: INVADED art designer) as creature designer, Emi Chiba as (ID: INVADED) color designer, Tasuku Takagi (ID: INVADED assistant photography director) as photography director, Takeshi Ueda as music composer, and Kisuke Koizumi (ID: INVADED) as sound director. OZ is in charge of the animation production.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Ryouta Suzuki as Bisco Akaboshi, Natsuki Hanae as Milo Nekoyanagi, Reina Kondou as Pawoo Nekoyanagi, and Miyu Tomita as Tirol Oochagama. (Note: these are not the official romanizations). 

The Sabikui Bisco light novels are written by Shinji Cobkubo and illustrated by K Akagisi and mocha. The first volume was published in 2018, while the sixth and latest volume was published in 2020. The series also has a manga adaptation, which released its second volume in 2020.

Sabikui Bisco is set in a world where Rust Winds threaten mankind. The main character, mushroom protector Bisco, is looking for a special mushroom in order to save his master, and is accompanied in his travels by an attractive young doctor called Milo.
