Mahouka Spin-off The Honor Student at Magic High School Gets Trailer, Key Visual, Staff Details

The Honor Student at Magic High School (Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei) anime has received a new trailer and key visual along with staff details. The upcoming anime, which is based on a manga spin-off of The Irregular at Magic High School, was first announced in December 2020 and is set for a 2021 release date. 

The staff includes Hideki Tachibana (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) as director, Takashi Watanabe (Taboo Tattoo director) as assistant director, Tsuyoshi Tamai (WIXOSS DIVA(A)LIVE) as series composer and scenario writer, Ryousuke Yamamoto (Super Hxeros) and Takao Sano (Restaurant to Another World) as character designers, and Taku Iwasaki (The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor Arc) as music composer.

Meanwhile, the main cast includes Saori Hayami as Miyuki Shiba, Sora Amamiya as Honoka Mitsui, and Yuiko Tatsumi as Shizuku Kitayama. 

The Honor Student at Magic High School manga is written by The Irregular at Magic High School‘s Tsutomu Sato and drawn by Yu Mori. It was serialized in Dengeki Daioh from October 2012 to September 2020. Yen Press, which publishes the English version of the manga, describes it as:

A century has passed since magic–true magic, the stuff of legends–has returned to the world. It is spring, the season of new beginnings, and a new class of students is about to begin their studies at the First National Magic University Affiliated High School, nickname: First High.

A manga spin-off of the immensely popular light novel series The Irregular at Magic High School, The Honor Student at Magic High School follows the events of the original series as seen through the eyes of Miyuki Shiba, Tatsuya’s sister. The life of an honor student comes with a lot of expectations…and unexpected hidden feelings?!
