MediaLink to Distribute Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- and Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood in Asia

Medialink, the owner of the Ani-One anime channel, announced that it has attained from Nippon TV exclusive distribution rights to the upcoming TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy- and Joran: The Princess of Blood and Snow anime series in Asian territories sans Korea.

Crunchyroll and South Korea’s Aniplus (the parent company of the Southeast Asia-centered Aniplus Asia) will distribute Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- in other territories.

Medialink Group Chairman and CEO Lovinia Chu said in a press release, “We look forward to strengthening the partnership with Nippon TV, and enhance our distribution to reach as many anime fans as we can in Asia markets through the networks of Medialink and our own Ani-One platforms.”

Nippon TV had previously revealed the international distribution plans for TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy-, the first anime to be produced by its Anime Department, in early February. At the time, it said that Asian countries will get access to the anime on the Ani-one channel, ANIPLUS TV channel, and Aniplus.tv website “shortly after” the Japanese broadcast.

TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy- is based on the light novel series written by Kei Azumi and illustrated by Mitsuaki Matsumoto. The story originated as a web novel series that was published on Shoutsetsuka ni Narou from 2012 to 2016 before moving to AlphaPolis in 2016. The light novel series began in May 2013 and released its 15th volume in October 2020. A manga adaptation by Kotora Kino began in July 2015 and released its eighth volume in October 2020.

Nippon TV’s press release describes the anime’s story as:

Makoto Misumi is just an ordinary high school student living a regular life, but all of a sudden gets summoned to the other world to become a “hero.” The goddess of the other world, however, insults him for being different and strips his “hero” title, before casting him off to the wilderness at the edge of the world. As he wanders the wilderness, Makoto encounters dragons, spiders, orcs, dwarves, and all sorts of non-human tribes. Because Makoto comes from a different world, he is able to unleash unimaginable magical powers and combat skills. But just how will he handle his encounters with various species and survive in his new environment. In this fantasy, Makoto tries to transform the other world into a better place despite the humans and gods having turned their backs on him.

Meanwhile, JORAN THE PRINCESS OF SNOW AND BLOOD is an original anime set in an alternate Japan where Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu still maintains power, the Meiji era has advanced into its 64th year, and Japan has an energy source that has caused the Edo period and science to mix. During this time, the Tokugawa government assigns the Nue organization to exterminate the Kuchinawa, a faction that is preparing to overthrow the government. Sawa Yukimura, whose parents were murdered when she was a child, is a bookstore owner moonlighting as an executioner of the Nue, and is in search of a certain enemy.
