Super Sailor Saturn’s First Anime Transformation Scene Previewed In New Eternal Movie Video

The Toei Eiga YouTube channel has released a preview video of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal Part 2’s transformation scenes, with Super Sailor Uranus, Super Sailor Neptune, Super Sailor Pluto, and Super Sailor Saturn featured.

This marks the first time that Super Sailor Saturn is getting a proper transformation sequence in an anime. Aside from the transformations, the video also includes a look at Sailor Moon’s Eternal form.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal Part 2 is set to premiere in Japan on February 11. A trailer was released in January. The first part of the two-part movie was released on January 8.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal, the first theatrical Sailor Moon movie in 25 years, adapts the “Dead Moon” arc of Naoko Takeuchi’s Sailor Moon manga. The movie serves as the fourth season of Sailor Moon Crystal, an ONA series that debuted in 2014, and was originally meant to release in 2020 before being postponed due to COVID-19.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal‘s staff includes Takeuchi as supervisor, Chiaki Kon (Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3) as director, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Is the Order a RabbitBLOOM) as scriptwriter, Kazuko Tadano (Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens) as character designer, and Yasuhara Takanashi (Talentless Nana) as music composer. Momoiro Clover Z and the voice actors of Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus perform the theme song “Moonlight Chainon.” Toei Animation and Studio Deen are in charge of the animation production.

The main cast from the series reprise their roles in the movie. New additions include Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Sword Art Online series) as Helios/Pegasus, Shouta Aoi (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) as Fish Eye, Satoshi Hino (Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train) as Tiger’s Eye, Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Run with the Wind) as Hawk’s Eye, Yuuko Hara (Beastars) as JunJun, Reina Ueda (SSSS.Gridman) as CereCere, Sumire Morohoshi (BNA) as PallaPalla, and Rie Takahashi (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-) as VesVes.

Other new cast members include Naomi Watanabe (The Promised Neverland live action movie) as Zirconia and Nanao (One Piece Film: Gold) as Queen Nehellenia.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
