First PV For Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress Released

Upcoming Spring 2021 anime Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress received its first promotional video on January 18. The anime is scheduled to premiere on April 3. 

The latest anime to be based on Bushiroad’s Cardfight!! Vanguard trading card game, Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress features character designs based on drafts by manga artist group CLAMP. The Rising of the Shield Hero‘s monster designer Satoshi Mori is directing. 

Other staff members include Hiroyuki Saita (Revue Starlight character designer) as character designer and chief animation director and Bushiroad founder and president Takaaki Kidani as executive producer. Kinema Citrus, Kinema Citrus subsidiary Gifuto Animation, and STUDIOJEMI are in charge of the animation production.  

As for the cast, it includes Shouta Aoi (2.43Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team) as Yu-yu Kondo, Yuuki Ono (Beastars) as Danji Momoyama, Yuuma Uchida (Skate-Leading Stars) as Tohya Ebata, Amane Shindou (Rebirth) as Megumi Okura, Masahiro Itou (ARGONAVIS from BanG Dream!) as Zakusa Shigame, Hikaru Toono (Show By Rock!! Stars!!) as Tomari Seto, Shuuta Morishima (ARGONAVIS from BanG Dream!) as Masanori Iseki, and Yuki Nakashima (BanG! Dream series) as Mysterious Girl Mirei. 

The story follows Yu-yu, a 15-year-old who can sense others’ feelings and struggles to say no to requests. When he runs away from home one day due to his sister’s hobby, he meets Megumi Okura and is invited to the Wonder Hill amusement park, where a group called Team Blackout plays Vanguard. Yu-yu is “drawn in by its powerful allure- making friends along the way.”
