The second season of BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense will release in 2022. The announcement was made during the special one–year anniversary live stream of the anime by seiyuus and presenters Kaede Hondo and Ruriko Noguchi.
The existence of a second season was first teased in March 2020 at the end of the first season’s final episode.
The first season of BOFURI premiered in January 2020. The staff included Shin Oonuma (Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World) as director, Fumihiko Shimo (Talentless Nana) as series composer, and Kazuya Hirata (Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA 3rei!! character designer) as character designer and chief animation director. Silver Link was in charge of the animation production.
The first season starred Hondo (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina‘s Elaina) as protagonist Maple and Noguchi (Tamayomi‘s Nozomi Nakamura) as Sally. Other cast members included Saori Hayami (The Irregular at Magic High School Season 2) as Kasumi, Satomi Arai (Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Season 2) as Kanade, Noriaki Sugiyama (Mob Psycho 100 II) as Kuromu, Satomi Sato (Is the Order a Rabbit? BLOOM) as Iz, Ai Kakuma (Super HxEros) as Mai, and Nanaka Suwa (Love Live! Sunshine!!) as Yui.
