Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time Previews Utada Hikaru Theme Song In New Trailer, Gets New Poster

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time received a new trailer, which previewed the theme song “One Last Kiss” from Utada Hikaru. The upcoming anime movie also received a new poster by its chief animation director Atsushi Nishigori (the director of Darling in the Franxx).

The fourth and last movie in the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy is set to premiere in January 23, 2021, after being delayed from its June 27, 2020 release date due to COVID-19.

Studio Khara is in charge of the movie’s animation production. Key staff includes Hideaki Anno as chief director and scriptwriter, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Great Pretender, Neon Genesis Evangelion) as the original character designer, Yusuke Matsui (Mobile Police Patlabor Reboot) as CGI animation director, and Shirou Sagisu (SSSS.Gridman, Neon Genesis Evangelion) as the music composer.

Milan Records previously announced that it would release Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time‘s album in January 27, 2021. On December 16, Anime News Network reported that the movie had finished compositing and editing.

The first three Rebuild of Evangelion movies, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) AloneEvangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo were released in 2007, 2009, and 2012 respectively. Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time was initially titled Shin Evangelion Gekijou-ban back in 2012 and was meant to open in 2013 at the time. The movies are a retelling of the 1995 Neon Genesis Evangelion series, which is currently streaming on Netflix along with the Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion movies.
