Netflix Announces Partnership with Anime Studios MAPPA, Science SARU, NAZ and Studio Mir

Netflix announced that it has entered production line partnerships with anime studios MAPPA, Science SARU, NAZ and Studio Mir based in Korea. Specific titles have yet to be announced. 

Science SARU recently produced the anime series Japan Sinks: 2020 on Netflix. 

The non-exclusive production line partnerships already include anime studio Production I.G., bones, Anima, Sublimation, and David Production, which were announced in 2018 and 2019. 

The exisiting partnership resulted in the following titles released in 2020: 

  • Altered Carbon: Resleeved by Anima
  • Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 by Production I.G
  • Dragon’s Dogma by Sublimation

Several titles are still in the works and are slated for 2021 and beyond: 

  • Spriggan by David Production
    • An ancient alien civilization’s relics on Earth hold dangerous powers. The ARCAM corporation’s Spriggan agents must keep them out of the wrong hands.
  • Vampire in the Garden by WIT Studio – a group company under Produciont I.G.
    • Two girls, Momo and Fine, from different backgrounds who meet by chance. A story about an unlikely friendship between the human and vampire race that intertwines with the power of music.
  • Super Crooks by bones
    • In this anime adaptation, small-time crook Johnny Bolt recruits the ultimate crew for one last heist — for real! From comic book legend, Mark Millar.
