Shaman King Anime Reboot Cast & Staff Announced

The official Twitter account for Shaman King released its first anime trailer and announced the staff and cast for the anime remake. The anime is set for April 2021. 

The main cast includes:

  • Yoh Asakura: Yoko Hikasa
  • Amidamaru: Katsuyuki Konishi
  • Anna Kyōyama: Megumi Hayashibara
  • Hao Asakura: Minami Takayama

The staff includes: 

  • Director: Takeshi Furuta
  • Series composition: Shoji Yonemura
  • Character design: Toshihiko Sano
  • Music: Yuki Hayashi
  • Sound director: Masafumi Mima
  • Music production: Kings Record
  • Animation production: Bridge

The manga is written by Hiroyuki Takei and was originally published Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998. The series previously received a TV anime adaptation from 2001 to 2002. The upcoming reboot is set to adapt all 35 volumes of the manga.

The series is described as:

In a world of spirits, there are shamans. Shamans who connect people with the world of spirits. They help guide people and seeks advice. Manta Oyamada is one of those people can see see spirits. One night, he meets Yoh Asakura, a lazy-lacking shaman. They gradually become best friends and Manta finds out about Yoh’s past and why he’s in Tokyo. As Yoh and his spirit partner Amidamaru confront spirits, they also meet many enemies like Ren. As he meets those enemies, Yoh tries to achieve his goal of becoming the Shaman King. (via ANN)
