Shaman King Anime Reboot Announced for April 2021

The official website and Twitter account announced Shaman King will be receiving an anime reboot. Written by Hiroyuki Takei, the manga was originally published in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998. The series received a TV anime adaptation from 2001 to 2002. 

The upcoming reboot is set to adapt all 35 volumes of the manga. It follows the footsteps of the recent Fruits Basket (2019) reboot and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime. 

The series is described as:

In a world of spirits, there are shamans. Shamans who connect people with the world of spirits. They help guide people and seeks advice. Manta Oyamada is one of those people can see see spirits. One night, he meets Yoh Asakura, a lazy-lacking shaman. They gradually become best friends and Manta finds out about Yoh’s past and why he’s in Tokyo. As Yoh and his spirit partner Amidamaru confront spirits, they also meet many enemies like Ren. As he meets those enemies, Yoh tries to achieve his goal of becoming the Shaman King. (via ANN)
