Anime Festival Asia Streams Special Online Event “AFA UNITED”

Anime Festival Asia is Southeast Asia’s biggest Japanese pop culture event. It received 1.8 million visitors across 30 events and nine major cities over the past 11 years. AFA has been a highly anticipated event every year, but the pandemic has affected AFA’s ability to organize such events, leading to a new initiative called AFA UNITED.

SOZO, the organizer of AFA UNITED, describes the event as:

Created to represent a new series of online events, ‘AFA UNITED’ hopes to bring together J-Culture fans online, united in their love for Japanese Pop culture. ‘AFA UNITED’ looks forward to recapturing the joy and excitement of fans who regularly attend AFA events across the region, not just today but also in the near future.

AFA UNITED is bringing together several well-known Anisong performers, such as fhána (Haruchika, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid) and TRUE (Violet Evergarden, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime), for the event. Other well-known figures such as voice actress Azusa Tadokoro (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, BanG Dream!) and local cosplayer Rithe are part of the event’s lineup as well.

The first-ever AFA UNITED can be viewed on 26 April 2020 starting at 8:00 PM (GMT +8).
