Makoto Shinkai’s ‘Weathering With You’ Sold Out in Philippines Pre-Screening

Tickets for the exclusive Pre-Screening of Weathering with You in the Philippines have completely sold out in less than 24 hours. The Pre-Screening was scheduled for August 17, 2019, Saturday, at the Megamall Branch of SM Cinema  located in the Philippines’ National Capital Region. 

Based on the official website of SM Cinema where the pre-screening tickets could be bought, it can be clearly seen that all the seats have been booked with none left available.Tickets for the Pre-Screening were priced to ₱800.00 (US$15.35) which included an umbrella freebie inspired from the movie.

Anime Trending reached out to the distributor, Pioneer Films,  for comment and received confirmation that the pre-screening was indeed sold out.

Despite the limited screening, Pioneer Films later announced a general theatrical release slated for August 28, 2019 in the Philippines and the tickets will be priced at the usual cinema regular rate of ₱200 – ₱300 . 

UPDATE: As of August 14, 2019 – Pioneer Films has announced that they will have a second day of Pre-Screening for Weathering with You on August 21, 2019 via their Facebook page

Weathering With You is the latest film by Makoto Shinkai, who is popularly known for directing the anime films, Your Name and 5 Centimeters per Second among others. Weathering with You is scheduled to be released in other countries:

The film first premiered in Japan on July 19, 2019. It stars Shun Oguri, Tsubasa Honda, Chieko Baisho, Sakura Kiryu, Sei Hiraizumi, and Yuuki Kaji.
