Sentai Filmworks to Bring ‘Made in Abyss’ Films to US and Select Countries Early 2019

Sentai Filmworks announced at AnimeNYC 2018 that it has exclusively licensed Made in Abyss compilation films. The two compendium films, Journey’s Dawn and Wandering Twilight, are slated for theatrical release in the US and select countries for early 2019. Following the theatrical release, the films will be available for home release, pay-per-view, video on demand, and streaming.

Made in Abyss won Best Soundtrack and was runner up for Anime of the Year for Anime Trending’s 2017 Anime Awards. 

Sentai Filmworks describes Made in Abyss as:

The enigmatic Abyss entices those with the spirit of exploration, despite the dangers. Wishing to follow in her mother’s footsteps, Riko trains hard to become a Cave Raider. One day, she receives news that her mother died in the Abyss, yet a mysterious note tells Riko that her mother may still be alive. Vowing to uncover the truth about her mother’s fate, Riko embarks on a journey with a humanoid robot boy name Reg. Together, they will discover if they have what it takes to survive where so many others have perished.

Journey’s Dawn and Wandering Twilight will be available in Japanese with English subtitles and English dub. Additional information, such as theatrical dates and times, has yet to be announced.
