During Otakon this past weekend, Aniplex of America announced at their industry panel that FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD will be returning for home release later this year. Two Blu-ray box sets have been announced, with each set including 7 Blu-ray discs and special content including four OVA episodes and a 4 panel-comic theater.

In celebration of the 15th anniversary since the first anime series, FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST,  premiered in October 2003, Aniplex of America also announced a special FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD event at Anime NYC this November.

Aniplex of America describes the series as:

Alchemy: The science of understanding, decomposing, and reconstructing matter. However, it is not an omnipotent art. It is impossible to create something out of nothing. If one wishes to obtain something, something of equal value must be paid.
This law of equivalent exchange is the basis of alchemy.

There is a taboo among Alchemists: human transmutation. It is that which no one must commit.

Edward and Alphonse Elric break this taboo hoping they can revive their beloved mother. As a result, Edward loses his right arm and left leg and Alphonse has his whole body taken away. The Elric brothers embark their journey to find the “Philosopher’s Stone” to regain their bodies…

FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHER is described by many in the community as one of the few cornerstones of anime. FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST rights expired on FUNimation on July 31, 2016, leading to the conclusion of the home release since then.

The anime series is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Netflix.
